A Life of Learning, Growing & Living Sustainably
We have shared our 40 years of experience in self-sufficiency with people from all walks of life and nations.
There is lots to do here at home. We are busy developing and caring for the property, its inhabitants and everything we grow.
Our Morning Routine
Up bright and early, a quick cup of coffee and a piece of toast. Open the door and breathe in the freshness of the morning dew.
Feeding the Animals
Early morning begins with feeding the pigs. Then it is on to the ducks, topping up or cleaning their pond while they engage everyone in ducky conversation.
Checking on the Chooks
We check the chooks' water and collect their eggs before moving on to the vegetable patch.
The Vegetable Patch
A quick trip around the vegetable patch to gather the ripened harvest ready for the day.
Orchard Harvesting
Through the orchard gate to pick mature, juicy fruit and berries, tasting as we go.
The Glasshouse
Depending on the menu for the day, the glasshouse is our next stop for mushrooms.
Caring for the Property
Each day involves caring for the property, the animals and the food we grow.
And Then It's Breakfast!
After all that buzzing about, it is 8am. Time for breakfast!
Yoghurt, fruit, cereal, toast, homemade jam and home-baked bread. And we have earned it!
Life Beyond Breakfast
The day unfolds in many different ways, with a wide variety of practical activities around the property.
Making mud bricks and constructing walls.
Making compost and liquid fertilisers.
Pruning fruit trees and storing the harvest.
Sowing seeds in the vegetable patch.
Weeding, potting up plants and mulching gardens.
Clearing and fencing paddocks.
Cleaning and sharpening chainsaws.
Working alongside the bobcat as it gathers firewood or improves the landscape.
Our Ongoing Projects
We have quite a number of ongoing projects on the horizon.
Our Australian Bushland Home
Our property is a 14-acre piece of Australian bushland, with tall native ghost gums, wattle, native shrubs and flowers.
The property is home to a variety of native wildlife.
The property is flanked by a deep rocky gully and creek, with views extending 80 kilometres to the Sydney city skyline.
